Andrés Dávila Dylan came over to Texas State University and worked closely with the a cappella group VocaLibre. He arranged a Stevie Wonder piece, "Love's in Need of Love Today," for us to work towards sounding like a true instrumental ensemble. The expertise with which he taught left us with great respect for his talents. Dylan, your musicality and artistry excels. Thank you.

about

In the summer of 2016, I lost my Dad to cancer. On his birthday, a rainy day in late October, I wrote this song for him. If you like it, please buy it and tell your friends: any funds raised will be donated to the Princess Margaret Foundation or to Hospice Simcoe. They are two amazing places that took care of Dad, and the places where I last sang to him.

(Interesting Trivia... the penny whistle melodies are from pieces made famous by the Chieftains that my Dad loved to play)

lyrics

A rainy day in late October
Phone is silent on the wall
And foolishly I start to wonder
Just why you haven't called

Then it crashes down before me
I struggle up, and turn the page
And life goes on, the same as always
But everything has changed

Daddy-o, my Daddy-o
So hard to let you go

You came to me while I was sleeping
I thought you had something to say
But even as I ran towards you
You turned and walked away

When I awoke, my heart was aching
Had to find out what went wrong
I tried to will myself to slumber
But you'd already gone

Daddy-o, my Daddy-o
So hard to let you go

A rainy day in late October
A day the sunshine never came
Moaning wind through empty branches
Echoing your name

So I say the words you used to tell me
Every day since I was small
"Don't forget, I'll always love you
And don't forget to call"

Daddy-o, my Daddy-o
So hard to let you go
I can't let you go

Dylan Bell Toronto, Ontario

In a word... multifaceted. Toronto-based songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. From a neo-classical choral opus to an unabashed rock song, I've probably written it... or at least working on it. I'm fortunate enough to make my work my play, touring across North America, Europe, and Asia. Visit me at www.dylanbell.ca ... more
